FluxNetwork Brings Wireless, Mobile Digital Experience to the 2002 Sundance Film Festival
FluxNetwork Teams Up With HP and Symbol to Provide a Mobile, Wireless Experience With Daily Updates of Short Films, Animations, Calendar Changes, News And Insights.
PARK CITY, UTAH – Jan. 10th - 20th, 2002 - FluxNetwork, Inc., a developer of rich media client-server applications for mobile and wireless devices, today announced an agreement with the Sundance Film Institute to provide a wireless mobile experience to VIPs attending The 2002 Sundance Film Festival, January 10 – 20, 2002. FluxNetwork has teamed up with Hewlett Packard and Symbol Technologies, Inc. as sponsors at the Festival’s Digital Center. Together, they are delivering a mobile, wireless rich media experience including calendar updates, film shorts, Flash animations, film trailers, news and insights, with the video content utilizing Microsoft’s Windows Media™ technology.
For the first time, through the agreement FluxNetwork has with The Sundance Institute, filmmakers, top executives and VIP members of the entertainment and media industries attending the festival will receive daily wireless updates through the convenience of a handheld portable PC that fits in a pocket. Previously, VIP attendees would have to page through a 300+ page bound catalog. Through this collaborative effort, VIP guests will receive an HP Jornada Pocket PC enabled by FluxNetwork’s patent-pending FluxShow Platform™ and utilizing the Symbol Wireless Networker™, a CompactFlash wireless card for Wi-Fi wireless networks.

The 2002 Sundance Film Festival takes place January 10th through the 20th, 2002. The festival will screen 113 feature films at various theater venues throughout Park City, Utah and receive over 20,000 visitors, including the film industry’s top executives, directors, producers, and press. The HP Jornada PDA
HP is supplying 500 HP Jornada 568 Color personal digital assistants powered with Microsoft® PocketPC 2002 Premium Edition software. The HP Jornada PDA features a built-in CompactFlash Type I extended slot for memory cards and accessories, and removable/rechargeable 14-hour battery. Applications on the Jornada PDA include, Pocket Outlook, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, MSN Messenger, Microsoft Reader 2.0, Terminal Services Client and Media Player 8.
The FluxShow Platform Software

The Symbol Wireless Network
Symbol Technologies, Inc. is installing five wireless “hot-spots” with its WiFi-certified Spectrum24 High Rate Access Points and providing its Wireless Networker™, a CompactFlash wireless card, to HP Jornada Pocket PC users. The Wireless Networker gives wireless Internet access to Pocket PCs. The Symbol WiFi wireless network is being set-up at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival to exclusively deliver film festival-related content and updates within the wireless “hot-spot” areas.
